COME LIVE WITH ME
Like Orpheus you looked behind you
fate decided by
a single turn of head.
The woman you thought yours
preferred the cave,
dark housebound world,
Followed only with reluctance
loath to give up midday serials
her comfortably buried mind.
It seemed she wanted you to lose her,
stared dully at your neck until
you looked.
And in your moment's doubt you saw
the wifeless future;
but also your ascent to song. |
